About Daniel C. Morrison
If you are interested in Daniel C. Morrison's history to date then here it is, straight from the entertainer himeslf.
Hello and welcome to a little about me. Ready for one of the longest sentences you may ever read in your life? My credentials say I'm the author of the Dream Shade series and other books, a songwriter with my varied rock under the name Scatterstone, a rap artist under the name Upryze, a paranormal journalist, a promoter as owner of All For One Promotions, publisher as President of Jest Publishing, and Shout! Radio Services Director of Operations of the Arts and Entertainment Connexion where I post articles of artists of all genres both famous and not-yet-famous for the 200,000 plus listeners of Acoustic Alternative Radio to read if they want to while they listen to awesome music as well as 15,000 plus wondering fingertips via Google, not to mention the wondering eyes of this site and others. I guess that makes me a freelance journalist too.
You've seen my stuff on A and E Connexions, on this website and on LouisvilleMojo.com, just to name a few. This success has all stemed from one mindset: using the talents God gave me and the belief in good karma and good samaratans. Since I am on a journey to add light to peoples lives through my talents I decided to help others along the way. For a rough autobiography excerpt of my road in life, read further.
I do not remember much from the days inside of the womb nor do I remember much after that. The records say I was born on June 21st, 1976. It was my mother's 21st birthday and also Father's Day. Surely being such a special gift would have kept me from being beat so much. I was wrong though. I am just joking. Seriously, I am. Later on in life I would read that 1976 was the same year that president Nixon started to pull troops out of a seriously traumatic war, the Vietnam War. In fact, there was a lot of crappy things going on in the world so if you are a history buff check this link out to see what went on that I did not have any control over http://www.thepeoplehistory.com/1976.html.
For the sake of my site I am going to fast forward to a few things that got me to where I am currently in April of 2009. My belief in the spirit world started right out of high school. My grandfather on my dad's side of the family passed away. His sister contacted my dad and out of respect my dad went to the funeral. When he arrived a new world was introduced to him and the whole family, our Native American heritage. As it turns out my family is part Lakota.
With the inheritance money my father received he went on a personal quest to discover our heritage but I stayed behind. However, it didn't take too long for me to move up to Spokane, Washington because my parents bought a Native American gift shop and allowed me to post my poetry and drawings in the store.
The few months I lived in Spokane I was introduced to the ways of the Native Americans. There was a pipe ceremony held every week. More importantly, our store was kind of a hang out for Native Americans and that's where the stories came in. We were told of the ancient ways and all the mystical parts of life that we had not known of or was not educated about. This sparked a huge interest in the spiritual world for me. I began to read books by Lee Carol who channeled the high entity spirit KRYON, Ted Andrews who was a very in depth Shaman whose specialty included spirit animals and rites and I also read about auras, crystals, the whole nine yards. Metaphysical books had a big part in my life and helped to shape my humble spirit and desire to help others. However, my pull to be in that world was hindered by personal demons and demands of life. I'll go into that now.
In high school my English teacher, Mrs. VonAllmen had pounded the idea into my head that I was a wonderful writer. At that time I was more interested in being a comic book artist, as you can see on my Store page. Sadly, being a comic book artist was hard to do while trying to eat, pay rent, and survive financially. So I decided I would learn some instruments and start a band. Sadly, you have to rely on others if you want a band to make it. That's what happened to my first band, Sylent Eve. No one was on the same page so it ultimately failed. Scatterstone is the name I use now simply because I write all the music, play all the instruments and sing the songs myself. But even though I do all that I can't be all the members at once on a stage. My next idea was to use my imagination and talents to get a book published. Therefore, I did. Four in fact. Two short stories and two adventure/horror novels. I still wanted to do music though and with all the b.s. in my life I needed an outlet so I chose two things, rap music and the paranormal.
My rap name is Upryze, as I'm sure a lot of people know now. I decided to do rap since my cousin, Trajik from Louisville, Kentucky needed someone reliable to help him get shows and perform on stage. Since I was forced away from being with the woman I wanted to marry by some real life demons I needed an outlet for my pain. It was the first time I realized how therapeutic rap can be. I started making a splash with my rap music but for some reason Louisville is a terrible place for any musician to be taken seriously. If you're a white rapper you are automatically tagged as being lame and terrible. Now, as you can tell, it wasn't the case with Trajik and me. In fact, Doom Sqaud should come to mind right now, the music the two of us do together.
For music purposes we needed a little help from somewhere but still our own energy and I had a wonderful idea. I was already trying to get hype about my novels so I took on the job of promoting both at once. The idea was to make money from the books to pursue the music. My best chance of doing so? The paranormal, of course.
I had already published my latest story, Conductor O' Shay. I decided that it was time for me to get serious about my dreams and get back into the spiritual side of myself. Therefore, I decided to help get ghost hunters from all over the world some exposure by advertising them for free on my myspace page and my websites. From what I remembered reading in metaphysical books, one of the biggest goals for humans from the perspective of Kryon and others was to thin out the veil between the physical and spiritual world. As we can all attest to now, the idea of the afterlife and explosion of interest to prove it exists is the fad right now. Since I believe that if a person puts good deeds out there in an attempt to help others out and to receive good karma in return I was destined for better things. If you've noticed, my books have that common theme. That's why I decided to be a freelance paranormal journalist.
I write articles for others and also firsthand accounts of what I've experienced all in the name of helping curious readers see an honest person's perspective of what goes on when the camera is off. I promise to be as real as I can be about what I see and sense, positive or negative. That's why I am confident that I can tell you all about a gift that I came into heavily in the last 6 months, divine intuition and sensing spirits.
For months I have felt something weird happen to me. I thought I was able to detect spirits but had no proof. I sought out a tarot card reading by Kathleen Running Deer and was shown some pretty profound stuff. According to the cards and the divine forces governing the messages I was told that I had completed the 22 steps needed to gain a very strong divine intuition, or gut feeling. From the patience I've endured trying to be successful as an entertainer, a constant belief in God about things getting better, praying seriously all the time for not only myself but others and going through some painful heartaches my good karma was about to pay off. This made sense to me since I recently teamed forces with the famous mentalist, Joe Riggs.
Joe Riggs wrote a review for my ghost story and after a year of us trying our own thing there was an opportunity for us to combine forces to give the world a unique blend of entertainment. Joe would do magic and mentalism and during breaks we would play music for the audience. Not only that but since I can detect spirits he is helping me tap deeper into that part of my being. Now together we can sense spirits and he can photograph them. It makes sense if you think about it because in St. Augustine, Florida Joe was also a professional ghost photographer. So together we formed a ghost hunting team to use our own brand of investigative techniques in our spare time. I will point out what I feel and he will do the same then he will photograph the area of energy to determine if there is a ghost there or not. Then I will write the article and post it for all to see. We will almost always have others around to help verify that it is real and not hoax. After all, I have a reputation for honesty and sincerety. In fact, I could not disprove Joe's photography and I cannot disprove his mentalism and spirit writing. That's why I am confident he will make a great teammate. If he was ever fake or lying I would be ruined as well. Guilty by association is what they call it. Soon, Joe Riggs headed on to his own calling in Texas where he is making an astounding impression as a Mentalist and Hypnotist as well as motivational speaker. Awesome Joe!
During summer of 2009 my Upryze music was being praised by underground locals. This was good because I was helping my cousin, Trajik, off and on because he has an awesome rap flow and is amazing with lyrics. We teamed up to form the band Mirage and that got awesome reviews. We got an album done but shortly after, things fell flat. Unemployment struck me and Trajik. Combine that with the fact that Louisville is not kind to rap and hip hop artists as far as offering shows due to the bad repuation others in the field before us gave the venues in the city and we decided to reload and test other ideas. This led me back to writing articles heavily.
Back tracking a bit before the album was done, in summer of 2009 I met Whitney Steele, a popular and damn good folk singer from Phoenix, Arizona. I wrote an article, met her at a local concert in Jeffersonville, Indiana at a Hooter's. This is where I met Wes Simkins, part of Shout! Radio Services where he runs and operates the popular Acoustic Alternative radio. I wrote an article for him. He and the staff loved it so much he asked if I would submit all my articles I've ever wrote for people to their site, the Arts and Entertainment Connexion. Since he shared the same passion I do for helping others I agreed. Soon he would ask me to take it over so he could focus on Acoustic Alternative. He gave me the title of Program Director for the Arts and Entertainment Connexions where I submit the articles I write, other than Louisville Mojo's blog section and my site, Daniels Doorstep. I was told by Wes that once I started submitting articles, A and E Connexions was getting over 15,000 Google hits a month, according to his statistic software. He also informed me that Acoustic Alternative radio has over 200,000 active listeners on any given day. That was awesome and I'll forever be thankful to Wes and Shout! for the opportunity they gave me.
Once this unemployment hit in January of 2010 I decided to put all my effort into promoting artists of all genres even further than free articles. I get so many requests and such that I needed to find a way to cover my costs while promoting them all. I had an idea that would help me and all other artists get awesome exposure. The title I have, credentials I have, and connections made me believe I had an opportunity to promote people in an awesome way that no one else could. I would do this for donations all over the nation. I formed a company based solely on donations called All For One Promotions.
This brings me up to current events as of March 5, 2010. Will I succeed? Will I lose it all for the idea of All For One and one for all? Time will tell. We'll see what the donation buttons on my site do for me and what God has in plan for all of us.
This brings you up to date to this point in time. I've tried my best to keep things flowing and give you chunks of information that you might be interested in. There's a lot more to everything but who wants to read a long page of this stuff? I kept a lot of humor out because if I did not this would be way too long. So I hope you have an idea of what I am and have plans on doing. In fact, I hope to touch everyone in some positive way because I believe in one ultimate thing: Everyone has good days and bad days but everyone wants each day to be a little brighter. I hope to add to that by using the talents God gave me. And to all of you out there who think you can't do it please remember this one thing: You only fail if you give up or die and you can't control death.
All my best,
Daniel C. Morrison
